WebP vs JPG vs PNG — when should I use which?

Use WebP on your website for almost everything: it beats JPG on photos and usually beats PNG on graphics, with transparency support included. Keep JPG for maximum compatibility with old software and email clients, and PNG as your lossless editing master. For print, stick with high-resolution JPG/TIFF.

Do all browsers support WebP?

Displaying WebP: yes — every modern browser including Safari 14+ shows WebP images fine. Creating WebP in this tool needs a browser with WebP canvas encoding: Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Opera, and Safari 17 or newer. On an older Safari the tool will tell you rather than silently producing the wrong format.

Can I convert many images at once?

Yes — select or drop as many as you like; they convert one after another and “Download all” saves the whole batch. Since it's all local, the practical limit is your device's memory, not our server.

Can I convert WebP back to JPG or PNG?

This tool converts to WebP. For the reverse, most image editors (even Paint or Preview) open WebP and can save as JPG or PNG — or right-click any WebP in your browser and “Save image as.”
