🎨 Fancy Text Generator
Convert plain text into cool Unicode fonts. Perfect for gaming, Discord & social media!
In a lobby of a hundred players, a name is the only thing anyone sees before the match starts, and a Discord nickname is how a server remembers you. That is why styled names with gothic letters, small caps, bubble text and decorative brackets are everywhere in PUBG Mobile, Free Fire, Call of Duty Mobile and Discord communities. None of those apps offer a font picker, so the effect comes from Unicode: special characters that look like letters in a different style and survive being pasted into almost any text box. This fancy text generator converts whatever you type into a long list of those styles at once, adds ready-made name decorations and borders, and copies any result with a single click. It runs entirely in your browser, with no account and no limits. Below the tool we cover the part most generators skip: which platforms reject which characters, why a styled name can stop friends finding you, and how to build a name that looks distinctive without becoming unreadable or impossible to type.
What this tool does
Fancy text, built from Unicode characters
Every letter on your screen is a numbered character in the Unicode standard. Alongside the ordinary alphabet, Unicode contains styled copies of the Latin letters created for mathematics, phonetics and typography: bold, italic, script, double-struck, monospace, fullwidth, small capitals, circled and squared letters, plus thousands of symbols such as stars, brackets and dingbats. This tool maps each letter you type to its counterpart in those sets and shows every result together.
Category tabs filter the list for Gaming, Discord, Fancy, Bold and Decorated styles, and the Name Decorations section adds symmetrical borders and symbols around your name in one click. Because the output is plain text, it works anywhere Unicode is accepted: Discord display names and server nicknames, game profiles that allow special characters, Instagram, TikTok, X, Twitch chat and messaging apps.
Nothing is processed on a server, so the tool is instant and private. Your name never leaves your device. The trade-off is that every limitation comes from the platform you paste into, not from the generator: some games and apps filter certain characters, cap name lengths, or count one styled letter as two.
Use cases
Where fancy text is worth using
Mobile game names
Battle royale and shooter players use decorated names to stand out in kill feeds and lobbies. Many mobile games accept a range of Unicode letters and symbols in display names, but rules vary by game and region, and some filter characters after you submit. Always test before paying for a name change card.
Discord display names and nicknames
Since Discord's 2023 username change, your unique username must be lowercase letters, numbers, periods and underscores. Your display name and per-server nicknames, however, accept Unicode, which makes them the right place for styled text and decorations.
Clan and team tags
Squads mark members with a shared prefix in a consistent style, such as a small-caps tag in brackets. It signals membership at a glance in lobbies and leaderboards. Keep the tag short, because it eats into each member's name length limit.
Server channel and role names
Discord server owners style category headers and role names to make the sidebar easier to scan. Small caps and bold styles read well. Avoid styling text members need to type, such as bot commands or channel names they mention often.
Stream titles and overlays
Streamers use a styled word or two in Twitch and YouTube titles, chat commands and on-screen labels to give a channel a recognisable look. A single styled keyword at the start of a title draws the eye without hurting search, as long as the rest of the title stays plain.
Social bios and captions
The same styles work in Instagram, TikTok and X bios and captions. For bio-specific styles and tips on staying searchable, our dedicated Instagram bio fonts tool covers that ground in more depth.
Make it work
Rules for a fancy name that does not backfire
Style the frame, not the whole name
The safest pattern is a plain or lightly styled core name wrapped in decoration, such as symbols or brackets. Friends can still type the core when they search, invite or @mention you, and the decoration gives you the look. A name built entirely from rare symbols looks striking once and then becomes a nuisance for everyone who needs to find you.
Expect platforms to count differently
Most styled letters sit outside the basic range of Unicode and take two units of storage in the encoding many apps use internally. A twelve-letter styled name can therefore hit a limit designed for twenty-four plain characters, or be rejected outright. When a game says your name is too long, shorten the styled part first.
Check what others will see
A character that renders on your phone may show as an empty box on a friend's older Android device or a console. Bold, italic and small-caps styles are the most widely supported. For the bigger picture of building a community around your name, see our Discord server template generator, and for social profiles try the Instagram bio fonts generator. For the underlying rules, the Unicode code chart for mathematical alphanumerics shows exactly which styled letters exist.
Step by step
How to make a fancy gaming or Discord name that the game accepts
Generating fancy text is instant. Getting a game or app to accept it, and making sure friends can still find and mention you, takes these five steps.
Type your name or text
Enter the name or phrase in the input box. Keep it short, because most games cap display names at a small number of characters and styled letters can count double. The counter shows how much you have used. Use only letters and numbers at this stage, since punctuation and accented characters usually have no styled version and will stay plain whichever style you choose.
Filter by Gaming, Discord or another category
Use the category tabs to narrow the list. Gaming shows styles that tend to survive game name filters, Discord highlights styles that read well in the member list, and Decorated adds symbols around letters. Scroll the results and compare how each looks at small size, because names in kill feeds, chat and member lists are always shown tiny, not at preview size.
Add a decoration or border if you want one
Open the Name Decorations section to wrap your name in symmetrical symbols, brackets or borders. Click a decoration to copy the combined result. Decorations are a good way to keep the core name readable while still looking distinctive, and they make clan or team tags consistent across a group. Pick one design and use it everywhere so people recognise you.
Copy and paste it into the game or app
Click the style card to copy it, then paste it into the name field in your game, Discord profile or social app. On mobile, if paste does not appear, long-press inside the field. Before you spend a paid name-change item in a game, test the name in a free field first, such as a chat message or a custom room name, to confirm the game displays every character.
Confirm others can see and find you
Ask a friend to check your name on their device, ideally a different brand of phone or a console, to confirm nothing shows as boxes. Then make sure people can still search for or mention you. On Discord, your plain username remains the reliable way to be found, so share that when inviting friends, and treat the styled display name as decoration rather than identity.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is a fancy text generator?
It is a tool that converts ordinary letters into styled Unicode characters that look like different fonts, such as bold, script, gothic, bubble or small caps. Because each styled letter is a real character rather than formatting, you can copy it and paste it into places that do not support fonts, including game names, Discord, social media bios and chat apps. Nothing needs to be installed on your device or the reader's.
Can I use fancy text for PUBG, Free Fire or COD Mobile names?
Often, yes, but every game sets its own rules and they change. Many mobile games accept a range of Unicode letters and symbols, while others filter specific characters, restrict them by region, or reject names that become too long once styled letters are counted. Test your name in a free text field inside the game before using a paid rename item, and keep a plainer backup ready.
Does fancy text work on Discord?
Yes, in the right places. Your Discord display name, server nicknames, server names, role names, channel topics and messages all accept Unicode styles. Your unique username does not: since 2023 it can only contain lowercase letters, numbers, periods and underscores. That split is actually useful, because friends can always find you by your plain username while everyone sees your styled display name in chat.
Why do some characters show as boxes or question marks?
The device viewing the text needs a font that contains those characters. Recent iPhones, Android phones and Windows PCs cover almost all of them, but older Android versions, some consoles and smart TVs do not, so they draw empty boxes. Bold, italic and small-caps styles are the safest bet. Ask a friend on a different device to confirm your name displays properly.
Why won't my game accept my fancy name?
The most common reasons are a character the game filters out, a name that exceeds the length limit because styled letters count as two, or a decoration symbol the game treats as invalid. Try a shorter name, a different style, or remove the border symbols. Some games also block names that look like they impersonate staff or contain hidden spacing characters.
Is fancy text the same as changing my font?
No. A font changes how the same characters are drawn on your own screen. Fancy text swaps your letters for different characters that happen to look styled everywhere. That is why it survives copy and paste, and also why search, spellcheck and screen readers treat it as unfamiliar symbols rather than words. Use it for decoration, not for text people need to search or read aloud.
Can other players search for my fancy name?
Usually not by typing it normally. A search for a plain name will not match the styled characters, and few people will hunt for gothic letters on a keyboard. Keep a recognisable plain part in your name, or share your plain username or friend code separately. Styling only the decoration around a plain core name gives you the look while staying findable.
Is this fancy text generator free and private?
Yes. There is no account, no limit and no watermark. The conversion runs in your browser with JavaScript, so the text you type is never uploaded or stored on our servers. You can generate names for yourself, your clan or your community as often as you like. If you also run a Discord server, our server template generator plans the rest of your setup.
Can fancy text get my account banned?
Styled letters themselves are not against the rules on Discord or most games. What can get you in trouble is using them to impersonate staff or other players, to dodge word filters with offensive names, or to hide invisible characters that break moderation tools. Keep your name honest and readable and you are very unlikely to have a problem, but always follow each platform's own naming policy.
The best fancy gaming name is the one your squad can still type.
Style the decoration, not the core name. If nobody can search or @mention you, the cool font just made you harder to invite.
