WOOCOMMERCE DEVELOPMENT

A WooCommerce store
built to actually sell

Hire a WooCommerce developer who has built and maintained real stores — not a themed demo with your products dropped in. Fast, secure, payment-ready, and handed over entirely in your name.

Why it matters

Most WooCommerce stores lose sales at checkout

A slow store, a confusing checkout or a payment gateway that silently fails will quietly cost you more than the build ever did. I build stores around the part that actually makes money — the path from product page to paid order.

Checkout streamlined to reduce drop-off
Payment gateways tested with live orders
Product pages built to convert, not just list
Fast on mobile, where most carts happen
Order, stock & email flows automated
Secure, hardened and backed up

How it works

From first message to first order

1

Tell me about the store

What you sell, how many products, and how you want to take payment. You get a fixed quote, usually same day.

2

Build on staging

I build on a private staging site you can watch. Products, payments and shipping all set up before anything goes public.

3

Test real orders

We place live test orders end to end — payment, confirmation email, refund — so nothing fails on a paying customer.

4

Launch & hand over

Store goes live on your hosting and your accounts, with every login and a walkthrough so your team can run it.

Why stores are different

A shop is not a website with a buy button

Most of what goes wrong on a WooCommerce store goes wrong in places an ordinary WordPress site does not even have. These are the three that cause the most damage.

Your orders may still be stored the old way

WooCommerce moved order data into dedicated database tables — High-Performance Order Storage, previously called Custom Order Tables — instead of keeping every order in the same shared table as your blog posts. Plenty of stores built a few years ago were never switched over, and they get slower with every order they take. Checking which one you are on takes a minute and tells me a lot about how the store was looked after.

The cart cannot be cached like everything else

Cart, checkout and account pages have to be excluded from full-page caching, or customers start seeing each other’s baskets. This is exactly where a general-purpose speed plugin, installed with default settings, quietly breaks a store — and why store speed work is a different job from speeding up a brochure site.

An update that breaks checkout costs money by the hour

On a normal site a broken layout is embarrassing. On a store it is lost revenue, and you usually find out from a customer rather than from your own monitoring. Updates get tested on a staging copy with a real test order pushed all the way through to a confirmation email before anything touches the live shop.

Before you buy hosting

What a store actually needs to run

Worth checking before you pay for a year of hosting up front. A surprising amount of budget shared hosting still ships well below these, and no amount of optimisation fixes a server that is short on memory.

RequirementMinimum
WordPress6.9 or greater
PHP8.3 or greater (tested to 8.4)
DatabaseMySQL 8.0+ or MariaDB 10.6+
HTTPSRequired
WordPress memory limit256 MB or greater

Official minimums for WooCommerce 10.8 and later, published at woocommerce.com. WooCommerce will still run on PHP 7.4 and MySQL 5.6, but both are past end of life — which is precisely where a lot of cheap hosting still sits. Send me your store URL and I will tell you what yours is running.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I own the store completely?

Yes. It’s built on your hosting, your domain and your accounts, and at handover you receive every login. Nothing is locked to me — you can move developer whenever you want.

What about premium extension licences?

Any premium WooCommerce extension your store needs is bought in your name, on your own account, so the licence is yours and updates and support come straight from the vendor. I can purchase and configure them for you and include the cost in the quote, or you buy them and I’ll set them up.

Which payment methods can you set up?

Stripe and PayPal are the usual choices, plus most regional gateways. Tell me which country you’re taking payments in and I’ll confirm what’s supported before we start, so there are no surprises at launch.

Will migrating hurt my Google rankings?

Not if it’s done properly. URLs are mapped one-to-one, 301 redirects are put in place and the site structure is preserved. That’s exactly why the migration package exists as its own job rather than a quick copy-paste.

What ongoing costs should I expect?

Hosting, your domain, and any premium extensions you choose — all paid by you, directly, so you can see and control them. The care plan is optional and separate. I’ll give you an honest estimate of the running cost before you commit.

How do I pay?

50% to book the work in, 50% on completion before launch. Add-ons and care plans are paid up front. Message me on Telegram and I’ll send payment details that work for you.
